The Land of Smiles Awaits
Thailand is a country of golden temples, bustling markets, tropical islands and unforgettable food. From the vibrant streets of Bangkok to the serene mountains of the north and the turquoise bays of the south, every region offers something unique, wrapped in warm hospitality and rich tradition.
Explore ornate temples in Chiang Mai, shop floating markets outside Bangkok or unwind on the beaches of Krabi and Koh Samui. Dive in coral-rich waters off the Similan Islands, enjoy a cooking class in a local home or take a longtail boat through mangrove-lined rivers. Thailand is a place where every traveller finds their own rhythm.
Thailand suits every kind of traveller, whether you’re looking for adventure, wellness, food or relaxation. Choose from luxury resorts, boutique retreats, jungle lodges or beachfront villas. With excellent infrastructure, it’s easy to link the cities, countryside and coast in one seamless itinerary.
The best time to visit is from November to March, when the weather is cooler and dry across most of the country. The shoulder seasons bring fewer crowds and green landscapes, while some southern islands shine brightest between May and October.
With Nexus Travel, we’ll help you create a Thailand journey that reflects your interests and style. Whether you want to temple-hop, island-hop or simply slow down, we’ll handle every detail so you can enjoy a trip that’s effortless, enriching and unforgettable.

Entry Requirements
UK passport holders can enter Thailand without a visa for up to 30 days when arriving by air. Your passport must be valid for at least six months. Extensions may be possible from within Thailand for an additional 30 days.
Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit most of Thailand is from November to March when the weather is dry and cooler. The southern coasts vary slightly, with the Gulf coast best from January to August and the Andaman side from November to March.
Vaccinations
Recommended vaccinations include hepatitis A, typhoid, and tetanus. If visiting rural areas or staying longer, rabies, hepatitis B, or Japanese encephalitis may also be advised. Mosquito protection is essential throughout the country.
Currency
The official currency is the Thai Baht (THB). Credit cards are widely accepted in cities and resorts. ATMs are plentiful, but cash is preferred for smaller purchases, especially in markets and rural areas.
Language
Thai is the official language. English is spoken in tourist areas, hotels, and restaurants, but learning a few Thai phrases is appreciated by locals and can enhance your experience.
Electricity
Thailand uses plug types A, B, and C with a voltage of 220V. A universal adaptor is recommended. Power supply is generally stable in urban areas and resorts.
Bangkok
Thailand’s bustling capital is known for its ornate temples, royal palaces, floating markets, and vibrant street food. Don't miss the Grand Palace and Wat Pho.
Chiang Mai
Surrounded by mountains and temples, Chiang Mai is a gateway to jungle adventures, hill tribe culture, elephant sanctuaries, and the scenic Golden Triangle region.
Phuket
Thailand’s largest island offers beach resorts, nightlife, island hopping, and access to nearby Phi Phi Islands and Phang Nga Bay’s limestone cliffs.
Ayutthaya
This UNESCO World Heritage Site features impressive ruins of ancient temples and palaces from Thailand’s former capital, just a short trip from Bangkok.
Krabi
Known for its dramatic scenery, Krabi offers longtail boat trips, rock climbing in Railay, and stunning beaches including Ao Nang and nearby island getaways.
Koh Samui
This popular island blends luxury resorts with laid-back beaches, coconut groves, and temples. It's also a base for exploring Ang Thong Marine Park.
Getting Around
Domestic flights, sleeper trains, buses, and ferries connect Thailand’s regions. Tuk-tuks, taxis, and ride-hailing apps are common in cities. Ferries and speedboats serve the islands.
Travel Insurance
Comprehensive travel insurance should include medical cover, activities like trekking or diving, and emergency evacuation. Healthcare is good in major cities and tourist hubs.
Packing Essentials
Bring light clothing, swimwear, sun protection, insect repellent, and modest attire for temples. A waterproof bag is useful for boat trips and sudden tropical downpours.
Weather Conditions
The tropical climate means high humidity and seasonal rains. The wet season varies by region but typically runs from May to October. Coastal areas may see rough seas during monsoon months.
Temple Etiquette
Dress modestly when visiting temples, covering shoulders and knees. Remove shoes before entering, and never point feet at religious objects. Always act respectfully towards monks.
Food & Water
Thai cuisine is delicious but can be spicy. Eat freshly cooked food, drink bottled water, and avoid ice in drinks if you are unsure of its source.
Land of Smiles
Thailand is known for its warm hospitality and friendly locals. Visitors are often greeted with a smile and a traditional “wai” gesture of respect.
Never Colonised
Thailand is the only Southeast Asian country that was never colonised. It has maintained a strong sense of national identity and independence throughout its history.
Royal Respect
The Thai royal family is deeply respected. Always stand for the national anthem and never speak negatively about the monarchy, as it is a criminal offence.
Street Food Culture
Thailand’s street food is world-famous. Dishes like pad Thai, mango sticky rice, and green curry are best enjoyed at bustling night markets and local stalls.
Festivals Year-Round
Thailand celebrates many colourful festivals including Songkran (Thai New Year), Loy Krathong, and local events that blend spirituality, community, and celebration.
Buddhist Traditions
As a predominantly Buddhist country, daily life is influenced by mindfulness, merit-making, and spiritual rituals. Visitors are welcome to observe and learn respectfully.
